Canada may ban fresh embryo donations leaving couples with little hope of conceiving with In-Vitro

As Canada could be getting ready to ban fresh egg donation, international doctors say fresh embryos give the best chances of conception

IVF treatmentVANCOUVER - The ethics advisor of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has recently announced that he believes that the government should ban the donation of fresh embryos.

This announcement has shocked physicians around the world who specialize in treating couples with fertility problems.

In an article published by the Vancouver Sun, Dr. Jeffrey Nisker of the CIHR says that he believes that doctors should not be offering couples the option to donate or save their embryo’s as he feels they will be coerced into doing so.

"I support a moratorium on the donation of ‘fresh’ embryos until national guidelines are in place to ensure that people are not pressured or coerced," said Nisker.

However some doctors at fertility clinics around the world are saying that they would never and have no reason to coerce patients into donating embryos. These doctors feel that it is their duty to inform their patients that they have they have the option to freeze their spare embryos, either for future attempts at In Vitro Fertilization or in order to donate them to another couple having troubles conceiving.

This kind of regulation of the infertility industry in Canada, and the high cost of treatment in the US is leaving North American couples with little or no choices. However international hospitals have been proving state of the art treatment with no restrictions, and at a low cost to couples around the world.

Turkey is the country of choice for most North Americans seeking fertility treatments as they have specialized clinics with highly skilled staff and state of the art treatments.

"It is our obligation and duty to inform our patients of every treatment and resource we have available" said Ugur Camlibel, spokesperson for Jinemed Hospital in Turkey. "Simply by telling patients what their options are should not be seen as coercion."

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) techniques used in Turkey are much more advanced than the techniques used in North American hospitals and cost a fraction of the price. For example, in Turkey doctors can implant up to 3 embryos per IVF treatment where as in the United States doctors can only transfer one embryo per treatment. This fact alone contributes to the high cost of fertility treatments in the US as it usually takes more than one treatment to conceive.

Hospitals in Turkey also have other techniques that they use in order to increase the pregnancy rate and to deal with other fertility related health problems. Jinemed’s other treatments include pre-implant genetic diagnosis, assisted hatching, and ovarian cortex freezing.

MeSolution.com is the North American partner of Jinemed Hospital; they take care of booking Jinemed’s entire client base from this region. Based out of Canada, MedSolution.com has been helping North Americans get the medical procedures they need, at a fraction of the cost, at their partner hospitals around the world.

With the ever expanding field of Medical Tourism, North American couples have more choices available to help them with their fertility and other health issues.
